We should have done this a long time ago. The sanded and finished floor in the great room looks so much better. Furniture will follow soon.
Our first visitors went for an early morning swim. No towels needed, just
dried of in the sun. Pool temperature 70 F (21 C) and it will only get warmer.

This is what cactus looks like after a hard freeze. The high yesterday was 34 F and the low last night 9 F. Not to worry, by Sunday we’ll be back to warm Arizona weather.
It is still hot down in the valley but a 1 hour drive up to Mt. Lemmon gets you to the Marshall Gulch Trailhead. 
A short hike (1.2 miles) up along the stream and you will reach the saddle, where upon the trail descends into the Wilderness of Rock

For those of you who were wondering how we get large objects up to the second story with only two spiral staircases. We’ve almost finished converting the whole house to super efficient zone AC/heat. Ordinarily I don’t get realexcited about HVAC but when its July in Tucson and 106 your perspective changes.

Soldier Trail is a demanding hike in the Santa Catalinas but the wildflowers are worth it: larkspur, penstemon, California poppies, and chickory among others.




These birds showed up today. Rare in the winter and the first time for us to see them. Quite noisy, there were about 25 of them.
